TL;DR
- It seems like AI is everywhere, but we don’t have a great sense of how many shops are actually implementing it.
- We developed a survey to measure how agencies are implementing AI and its impact on agency metrics. Take the AI survey!
- Everyone who participates will receive a copy of the final report.

Is your agency ahead of the AI curve?
It’s tough to answer that when we don’t know where the curve is…
Most of the agency owners I talk with have a stance on AI. Very few are brushing it off.
I’d say 20% are implementing it as fast as they can.
10% are actively resisting.
And the remaining 70% are taking a wait-and-see approach.
Only a few have developed any kind of cohesive strategy around it. I think that has to do with how fast AI is evolving, poor awareness of what’s possible, and general inertia around change. All of this muddies owner’s perception of if they’re ahead or behind the curve.
So, to answer that initial question, “Is your agency ahead of the AI curve?” we need to find it in the first place.
Finding the curve
When I think about measuring trends like this, there are three things I want to know:
- How aware and prepared are agencies?
- How far along are they in integrating the trend?
- And what kind of impacts are they seeing at various levels of implementation?
From past survey and interview work, I have a good sense of #1, and a decent idea of #2, but #3 is a bit elusive.
Owners who’ve implemented AI have seen productivity gains in the range of 15-25%, but I’ve also seen some content shops double their output. The impacts are unevenly distributed based primarily on an agency’s service mix and how well that aligns with the more advanced AI tools.
It’d do us all a lot of good to have a better handle on the speed of adoption and the potential impacts. This survey should give us those insights.
The more agencies that participate, the better we’ll understand how AI is shaping the industry.
