How the diagnostic scores your agency
The Digital Agency Growth Diagnostic scores a digital agency across 17 research-backed practices grouped into six components of the agency revenue generation system: Strategy & Positioning, Marketing, Sales, Bizdev., Account Management, and Alignment. Each practice is rated Not Started, In Progress, or In Place. The instrument is anchored to specific behavioral criteria for each practice to reduce the rating inflation common to self-assessment tools.
Scoring is normalized by agency size band. A handful of practices apply only to agencies above 25 full-time employees (FTE) and are filtered out for smaller studios so the score reflects what the agency could plausibly have in place. The overall score maps to one of four tiers: Building the foundation (0 to 35 percent), Building the system (35 to 65 percent), Refining the system (65 to 85 percent), and Leading agencies (85 percent and above).

How accurate is a seven minute self-reported diagnostic?
Accurate enough to surface the big gaps. It's not accurate enough to substitute for a real engagement. Self-reported instruments have known blind spots: leaders systematically overrate practices they think are important and underrate practices they don't fully understand. The diagnostic accounts for this by anchoring each question to a specific behavioral criterion, but the structural cross-functional gaps only show up in multi-respondent interviews, which is what the paid Digital Agency Growth Review surfaces.

Aggregated, anonymized data may inform our published industry research, but anything specific to your agency stays internal.
Can I retake the diagnostic later?
Yes. We recommend retaking it every six months. The score is a snapshot, not a label. Most of our paid clients see meaningful tier shifts within twelve months once a growth plan is in motion, and the diagnostic is the cheapest way to track that movement.
